Development Coordinator

Position Summary

The development coordinator will provide support for fundraising activities for the Foundation. Their primary function is to facilitate a successful annual fund campaign and related appeals. This position also oversees the donor database, donor acknowledgements and helps create and implement procedures that ensure data quality and consistency.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None



  • Establish, implement and evaluate the Foundation’s annual fund campaign; including mailings, appeals and reports
  • Create, implement, and evaluate strategies that lead donor cultivations, prospecting, segmenting, recognition and stewardship
  • Manage or assist planning and executing all activities related to the annual fund
  • Strengthen relationship with donors who give to the Foundation’s unrestricted fund and are below the major donor level ($5,000 or less)
  • Renew and upgrade existing donors
  • Assist executive director on major gift solicitations and corporate sponsorships
  • Manage or assist with on-site donor/prospect site visits
  • Manage donor database functions that include data entry, data quality, reports, tax receipts and online donation platform
  • Implement and maintain processes to document donor communications in the donor database



  • At least a four-year degree from an accredited school
  • Prefer two or more years of professional work experience
  • Experience with SalesForce or similar donor database platforms
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders in a manner that further promotes the Foundation’s mission
  • Ability to work across diverse groups of people
  • Be a self-starter
  • Ability to initiate projects and being flexible to the work environment
  • Passionate about conservation
  • Support the Indiana Department of Natural Resources mission and work


Working Environment

The position will be a mix of office time, on-site visits, events, and other donor engagements. It requires flexibility, and occasional work hours beyond what is considered a regular work day. A full-time work week is considered 37.5 hours. This is an exempt position. Some prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15lbs at a time.
