Pints for Parks: Moontown Brewing’s Continued Support

For nearly the last two years, Moontown Brewing Company has been doing more than just brewing award winning beers. Since starting the Pints for Parks series in late 2020, the Whitestown based brewery has donated more than $5,000 to the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation in support of Indiana State Parks.

The idea of Pints for Parks took form during the peak of COVID when Moontown brewers Bobby Mattingly and Cody Peczkowski were inspired to give back. Both native Hoosiers and outdoor enthusiasts, the duo wanted to support Indiana’s public lands and the state parks they grew up visiting and continue to enjoy.

The project features a series of unique beers celebrating the natural diversity of Indiana State Parks properties. Mattingly and Peczkowski committed to creating a beer for each of Indiana’s 24 state parks in the order the parks were established. A portion of sales from each brew goes directly to the INRF in support of Indiana State Parks.

“Pints for Parks allows us to be creative while donating to something we truly believe in like state parks, wildlife, and everything that comes along with them,” Mattingly said. “There’s a finite amount of land in our state, and through this project we can help preserve it.”

The series began with McCormick’s Creek, Indiana’s first state park, and has since featured five other brews: Turkey Run, Clifty Falls, Indiana Dunes, Pokagon, and Spring Mill. From juicy hazy IPAs and German style lagers to an imperial coffee brown ale, Mattingly and Peczkowski are exploring the spectrum of flavors and styles. By taking inspiration from the park it showcases, each beer is unique.

“The constant excitement and support from the public is awesome,” Mattingly said. “It’s a cool series because it allows us to stay creative and fresh by adding new styles to our portfolio.”

On top of the variety of flavors and brewing processes, each Pints for Parks can is distinctively designed. Spring Mill, the most recent installment in the series, featured artwork of the park’s historic grist mill. The impressive designs of each can offer the perfect collector’s items for beer and nature lovers.

Next in the Pints for Parks series is Brown County. While the details of the seventh brew’s style are still being worked out, the beer will be unique and pair well with the cooler weather and Indiana’s beautiful fall foliage.

Pints for Parks enthusiasts can expect the brew to be available this fall. As with all the Pints for Parks brews, you can visit Moontown and enjoy a pint in the brewpub or purchase a 4-pack while supplies last.

Partnerships such as this one help us protect Indiana’s natural legacy for years to come. You can support our other projects and programs by donating today.
